Girlfriends Gala returns to downtown Hartland

Village of Hartland - After a successful first Girlfriends Gala last August, downtown business owners are hosting a second event this Thursday, offering women the chance to get together with their girlfriends and discover the unique shops, restaurants and services available in downtown Hartland.

The spring Girlfriends Gala will take place from 5 to 9 p.m. April 26 and will feature expanded downtown business participation and more outside vendors than last year's event, said organizer Jennifer Shoemake of the Hartland Center of Alternative Medicine. Throughout the evening, downtown Hartland businesses will offer specials on products and services, as well as classes and demonstrations.

Free horse and carriage rides will be available from 6 to 8 p.m. Special events this year will include:
Drawing for a complimentary room-of-your-choice decorating consultation from Decorator's Warehouse, a new home décor business scheduled to open at 139 E. Capitol Drive the day before the event.
.On-site Botox treatments from Dr. Jill Wohlfeil of Reneu Women's Health and MediSpa at Kirsten Salon, 151 E. Capitol Drive.

.Make-and-take jewelry project at Hartland Center of Alternative Medicine, 114 W. Capitol Drive, presented by Anna Draeger of Bead and Button magazine.
.Tips on organic cooking methods by organic cooking coach KC Thorson outside Hartland Center of Alternative Medicine.

.An artists and creators showcase at 303 Cottonwood Ave., featuring the works of nine artists.
Participants are encouraged to start their evening at the information table at the corner of Cottonwood and Capitol, where event maps will be distributed. Those who visit every participating business will be entered into a drawing to win one of two baskets filled with more than $150 worth of items.
